Community Involvement
Clinical Resources is committed to supporting organizations focused on health initiatives through its culture of corporate responsibility and by giving back to the community. As part of an internal program we encourage every employee to volunteer a few hours each quarter to one of these various community and charitable organizations.
Clinical Resources community involvement initiatives include:
Tiffany Circle
American Red Cross
Jennifer Scully, President and CEO is a proud member of the Tiffany Circle, a society of women leaders and philanthropists. By investing $10,000 annually in their local American Red Cross chapters, these women follow in the footsteps of a long line of women leaders who have helped the Red Cross serve the American public in times of war and peace with disaster assistance, blood collection, safety training and countless other community assistance services.
Members of the Tiffany Circle provide living examples of these virtues in their local communities, by ensuring the Red Cross has the ability to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to life's emergencies.
Clara Barton, a nurse and humanitarian, at age 60, founded the American Red Cross in 1881 and led it for the next 23 years. Clinical Resources supports nurses and believes in the work that Clara Barton launched those many years ago, therefore a natural path for company contributions and support.
American Red Cross Blood Services
“Every two seconds someone receives a unit of blood. The need is constant. It is our mission to meet that need”.
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement. Within the Red Cross, the Blood Services mission is to fulfill the needs of the American people for the safest, most reliable and most cost-effective blood services through voluntary donations.
The American Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts of service. Blood donors are ordinary people – high school students, factory and office workers, business executives, parents and grandparents, and people from every walk of life. But they share one thing – a generous spirit, a desire to give back to their community and help others. Blood donors play an integral role in the delivery of modern healthcare. Many life-saving medical treatments and procedures involve blood transfusions and would not be possible without a safe and reliable blood supply.
American Red Cross Biomedical Services plays a critical role in our nation’s health care system. It is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing more than 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to some 3,000 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. The Red Cross also plays a leading role in protecting the safety of donors and patients and increasing the availability of blood. It has been among the first to help develop and implement testing for infectious diseases and is frequently the single major contributor to clinical trials to improve blood safety. Providing life-saving blood and blood products to patients is a key component of the Red Cross mission to help people in times of emergency and disasters.
Jennifer Scully, President and CEO, is on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region for 2010, serving a three year commitment through 2013. The American Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region provides lifesaving blood to more than 120 hospitals and must have 1,200 people give blood and platelets each weekday to meet hospital demand.
Kiva
One of our proudest areas of involvement is with Kiva.org, the micro-loan group that helps entrepreneurs in third-world areas start their own businesses. Focusing mostly on helping women and marginalized groups, Kiva provides the funding needed on a small scale so that a local business can get on its feet. Kiva's mission is to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe. By combining microfinance with the internet, Kiva is creating a global community of people connected through lending.
Clinical Resources has sponsored the following business:
Helping a family in Cambodia start a farm to grow citronella. The live in Akreiy Ksatr, a village in the Kandal province. Mrs. Leak Sothy, 50 years old, as the group leader for this venture and she and her husband, Mr. Me Vatha, are farmers who own a plot of land to grow citronella for a living. They have received funds to support this farm and to buy seeds and fertilizers to cultivate the citronella. This couple has three children: two are seamstresses in a garment factory and the other is a farmer.
Clinical Resources continues to reinvest in Kiva and will further expand contributions to the many wonderful projects in years to come.
United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta

United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta engages all segments of our community to drive sustainable change in education, income, health and homelessness while continuing to address urgent and basic human care. United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta seeks to maximize our external and internal contributions by valuing, utilizing and recognizing everyone's unique potential in order to more fully achieve the goal of building a safer and stronger community.
The vision is for metro Atlanta to be a place where all individuals and families thrive.
United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta is working on six important goals to ensure our community thrives:
• Babies are born healthy
• Children enter school ready to learn and graduate prepared for careers
• Young people avoid risky behaviors
• Families are self-sufficient
• People have access to primary health care
• Homeless people are housed within a year

MedShare
“Bridging the gap between surplus and need)
MedShare is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the environment and healthcare through the efficient recovery and redistribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment to underserved healthcare facilities in developing countries.
MedShare shipments of medical supplies and equipment have brought healing and the promise of better lives to 80 countries and countless patients. MedShare is a top ranked charity by Charity Navigator, and is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with a second distribution center in San Leandro, California
Clinical Resources leadership team and employees regularly volunteers at the distribution center sorting and organizing donated medical supplies.
Charitable Giving
Clinical Resources provides financial support to these charities, and over the next few years, will expand its charitable contributions to other organizations, focusing on health and social services.
